November 2 - 4   MULAN QUAN - FEMININE TAI CHI DANCE w/ALEXIA REES
Eastover Estate And Retreat
430 East Street
- Lenox, MA
(866) 264-5139
Mulan Quan (aka Orchid Fist) Tai Chi with Alexia Rees- Nov. 2-4, 2018

Mulan Quan is the only major Tai Chi style developed by a woman master exclusively for women. Although the style is new to America, its health benefits have attracted thousands of followers throughout China, Japan, Southeast Asia, and Europe. Based on Hua Jia Quan, an ancient martial art featuring dance movements, this style is both powerful and feminine. Mulan Quan is beautiful to watch; it is a meditative dance through which the practitioner develops gracefulness, poise, strength, balance and flexibility, and is highly effective for rebalancing, quieting and focusing the mind. In this immersive workshop, Alexia Rees will introduce participants to the fundamentals of this unique style, the 24-posture basic Mulan Quan form, as well as the short Fan form. The basic form serves as a powerful daily practice, as well as a foundation for learning Mulan Quan Fan and Sword forms.
Each session will open with gentle QiGong (vital energy gathering) warm-ups, followed by instruction on the form. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a solid foundation and will be able to practice at home on their own.

Alexia Rees has been a Tai Chi core faculty member at Omega Institute since 2010, as well as a private Tai Chi instructor in the Greater New York Area since 2005. In addition to her Tai Chi practice, Ms. Rees performs as a classical piano soloist and in chamber music festivals, and has enjoyed a vibrant teaching career as a private piano instructor and an early childhood educator.

November 2  LAURA ROTH & HUI COX
The Park Theater
14 Park Street - Glens Falls, NY
The popular jazz series is back!

LAURA ROTH, described as “the widely touring Vegas-style entertainer,” and the “show stopper, (New York Post)” who has performed one-woman shows before thousands at major casino hotels, resorts, gated communities and theaters throughout the East, is proud to announce her latest musical collaboration with HUI COX, the highly regarded producer, composer, Grammy nominee, and recipient of two grants for composition from the National Endowment for the Arts, who has toured the world and recorded with Cab Calloway, Odetta, Liza Minnelli, Melba Moore, Wilson Pickett, Stanley Turrentine, Richie Havens, The Temptations, The Four Tops, and many more of the greatest names in show business.

Although Laura and Hui have separately performed a variety of musical genre, they have each come home to their deepest musical love, jazz. In doing so, they are calling upon the works of Ella Fitzgerald, Cole Porter, Chaka Kahn, Chick Correa, Sting, Gershwin, and others. Such diversity is possible, they believe, because virtually any song played with a unique approach and freedom can become jazz. Laura will sing in this 90 minute concert and Hui will back Laura in special arrangements as he plays electric, acoustic, classical, MIDIed 7-string guitar, mandolin, and electric bass, from his lifetime collection of nearly thirty stringed instruments

November 16  - 18   YANG STYLE TAIJIQUAN TRAINING w/MASTER FUKUI YANG & RICK BARRETT - 12.5 APPROVED CREDITS
Eastover Estate And Retreat
430 East Street
- Lenox, MA
(866) 264-5139
Taijiquan is usually taught from the “outside in” - meaning one learns the choreography, practices for years, and gradually comes to understand what’s going on inside. In this workshop, two teachers/healers with over 70 years of martial arts and clinical experience between them, teach it instead from the “inside out” - showing not just how to feel the qi, but what to do with it.
This retreat is for taijiquan teachers and intermediate/advanced students. It is organized around Yang Cheng Fu’s 13 Original Postures, a short, powerful Yang Style form that Master Fukui Yang learned from his granduncle. Each posture in the form will be explored, analyzed, and tested in the light of key taijiquan principles:

Yin/Yang Theory & Practice
Energetic Coherence (Zheng-ti Jin)
Central Equilibrium (Zhong Ding)
Five Elements (Wu Xing)
Song (Relaxation into essential structure)
Song Kua (Release of Hip Tension)
Joint Alignment and Sequential Activation
Jin (Expression of qi through the body, directed by consciousness)
Rooting
Shen (Spirit)

Fukui Yang and Rick Barrett will share their extensive knowledge and experience in a loving and understandable manner, showing how to get the most out of a taijiquan practice. Master Yang brings the unbroken tradition of authentic Chinese martial arts and philosophy and Rick Barrett takes us “Through the Western Gate” (his book title) to translate esoteric principles into teachable, "experienceable" abilities.

To feel at ease and worry free is everyone’s wish. We're all seeking deeper meaning in life and lasting happiness. November 29 - December 2   FLYING PHOENIX QIGONG w/MASTER TERRY DUNN-21.5 NCCAOM CREDITS!
Eastover Estate And Retreat
430 East Street
- Lenox, MA (866) 264-5139

Flying Phoenix is a rare and powerful medical Qigong system created over 400 years ago by renowned Taost monk Feng Dao Deh. It is a complete Taoist monastic system comprised of standing and seated, stationary and moving postures that impart a wide range of salient health benefits. The 24 Flying Phoenix Postures/Meditations consist of (A) an easy-to-do esoteric breath-control formula that ignites a specific flow of Qi within the body; followed by (B) a meditation in repose or a serene moving meditation using repetitive natural movements that are done three times slower than typical Taichi practice. Easier to learn and practice than Taichi, its health benefits are tangible, profound, and more immediate.

Terence Dunn is an expert instructor of Chinese martial, yogic, and healing arts with more than 40 years of training. Since 1990, he has popularized Tai Chi Chuan, an authentic Qigong practice throughout America and Europe through his highly acclaimed Tai Chi for Health and Chi Kung For Health DVD programs. Educated at Yale College and the Harvard Business School, he wrote the first medical protocol in American medical history applying therapeutic Tai Chi and Qigong exercises to accelerate recovery from major surgeries. In 2000 and 2001, Terry became the first Tai Chi trainer in the NBA, training the Los Angeles Lakers during their second championship season.

See this lively worldwide discussion thread with 4500 postings and 590,000+ views, on which Master Dunn answers all questions weekly:

"Because of the great interest in Qigong in the west, it is important to have bona fide teachings by bona fide teachers. Too often students wind up learning a little bit of this form and a little bit of another, while never learning any complete system. This series is a good example of a serious and gifted instructor who offers a complete system of healing qigong to the serious student." -- Solala Towler, Editor, The Empty Vessel -- Journal of Contemporary Taoism

"Just excellent. Terry's emersion in the subject is obvious. A pleasure and privilege to study with him." ----Dr.Gene M. Gudmundson, MT

"I can already feel the benefits and am inspired to do more. It can be a meaningful process in my life as long as I practice. I have very skilled tools to do that now." -Pat Nolan, Wabasha, MN

"Very Good. As a new comer to chi kung, I found the instruction very easy to follow and felt the effects immediately. Thank you so much for sharing your gift."- J. Lloyd Blackwell, ND

"Outstanding. On a scale of 1-10, I score it a 12+!! Extremely informative, practical and significantly energizing."- Dr. Gordon Mayfield, WI

November 30 - December 2   STOCKBRIDGE MAIN STREET AT CHRISTMAS
Stockbridge, MA (413) 298-5200

The town of Stockbridge, made famous by Norman Rockwell’s painting of the village during the holidays, becomes a magical New England setting decorated with holiday wreaths and festive lights, as the town celebrates Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas November 30, December 1 & 2, 2018.

Sponsored by the Stockbridge Chamber of Commerce, the holiday celebration offers a full range of activities, with highlights including holiday readings, house tours, caroling, and a holiday concert.

Capping off the weekend is a recreation on Sunday of the scene depicted in Main Street at Christmas, complete with vintage automobiles parked in the spots occupied in the painting. The day’s activities include horse drawn rides, a visit from Santa, Roger the Jester, lunch at the Christmas Food Booth and much more.

The festivities celebrate Rockwell’s popular depiction of what for many is the quintessential small New England Town, with all the longing for a simpler time that it represents. Rockwell began painting the popular image in 1956, but did not complete it until December 1967.

The image and character of Stockbridge has changed little over the years, thanks to the great care and affection of its residents, and it is that special ambience which draws so many.
