AN INVITATION TO ALL WOMEN SINGERS....
666 West Street (Lower Level)
Pittsfield, MA  (413) 446-3536.

Are you interested in maintaining your vocal skills over the summer?

Join any of our weekly 6:00pm -9:00pm Tuesday rehearsals for FREE this Spring and Summer and learn some fun new music and skills!

A few of the new songs we are now learning are: Happy, Let Me Be There, Hooked on a Feeling, Can You Feel the Love Tonight? and Born to be Wild.

As The Berkshire Hills Chorus enters our 50th year of making acapella barbershop music in the Berkshires, we are celebrating by opening our doors to all women singers ages 13 and older. No prior registration is necessary and there is no fee for the Spring/Summer season.

In addition, we are also offering the option to join us on stage at our 50th GALA SHOW on September 14, 2019 on the Boyd-Quinson Mainstage of the Barrington Stage Company. This show will feature The Berkshire Hills Chorus, along with quartets and guest performers.

If interested in performing on stage, you will need to attend a minimum of 8 rehearsals between May 21 and the end of August, demonstrate proficiency in two selected songs and be able to attend dress rehearsals prior to the show.

Please email Marcy Cohen at martiques@gmail.com or (413) 446-3536 for directions to our rehearsal space at 66 West Street, Pittsfield(lower level) or with any other questions.

July 5   OPEN HOUSE IN CELEBRATION OF ART AND THE 4TH OF JULY!
NUarts Studios and Gallery
311 North Street, 2nd Floor
- Pittsfield, MA (617) 750-5003

Karen S. Jacobs, Peggy Morse, & Ilene Richard will be opening their studios and the NUarts Gallery space on July 5th from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. NUarts s the home of 20+ working artists. Karen Jacobs (Studio 13/14) is a painter (in oil) or ephemeral landscapes. Her paintings use soft, brushed color to depict emotional moments in time. She will be showing a variety of paintings and prints from 6 X 6" canvases to 45 X 30" canvases. Peggy Morse (Studio 11) is a painter of abstracts which celebrate the interaction of color. Peggy explores nature-inspired compositions using “accidental” mark-making. She sometimes uses a mono-type process, while at other times she paints directly on the surface using an inking brayer, rolling the marks directly onto paper. Ilene Richard (Studio 6), a recent transplant from Andover, Mass., with gallery representation in Vermont, Florida, and New York, has been drawing and painting for as far back as she can remember. She is an accomplished illustrator of children's books (for sale in her studio) and a painter. Her paintings ranges from colorful figurative paintings, to dog portraits, to florals, and abstracts using mixed media. Ilene has been accepted into large juried exhibitions such as Artexpo Miami & Artexpo New York.

The work of many NUarts artists will be hung throughout our gallery. Refreshements will be served. Please come visit us!

Rachel Cline will read and discuss THE QUESTION AUTHORITY, an urgent and moving novel about what happens when childhood best friends confront the damage done by a teacher, who decades earlier molested them both.

"A new novel will reignite your #MeToo rage." —Washington Post

Meet Nora Buchbinder—formerly rich and now broke, an employee at the NYC Department of Education. She would be the last woman in Brooklyn to claim #MeToo, but when a work assignment reunites her with her childhood best friend, Beth, she finds herself in a hall of mirrors. Was their eighth grade teacher Beth's lover or her rapist? What should justice look like, after so much time has passed? And what, if anything, can Nora do now?

In this powerful and emotionally wrenching story, Nora and Beth’s memories, and those of their classmates, their former teacher, and members of his family are revealed. These memories shed light on the way we manage and absorb unbearable behavior and how it can influences the rest of our lives.

THE QUESTION AUTHORITY tracks Nora’s trajectory from denial to reinvention, self-pity to self-righteousness and, finally, insight and action. Readers will recognize the damage caused by one broken man from today’s headlines. As Nora begins to understand her own personal #MeToo, she faces some difficult revelations about herself and how she has chosen to live her life.
